Peekaboo

Hi! I am in the middle of a wonderful lazy vacation, we have spent the first weeks in Sweden but on monday F and I will take the car and drive to France and the Atlantic coast for a couple of weeks..
Do you have any tips around the La Rochelle-Bordeaux area?
I don't check the blogs on my vacation but I just had a quick look at Vosges Paris for some french inspiration before we leave and found this great industrial apartment by Paola Navone.
I hope you have a great summmer!

once in La Rochelle I think you should cross the bridge and hop over to Ile de Re... a little island with no cars(but you can rent bikes) and white beaches.. I have heared many good things but have never been there myself,

I opened some old picasa album from 2006 so you can see the images I collected ;)
Have fun! https://picasaweb.google.com/118187036179282921948/IleDeRe

Thank you very much Desiree. I love Ile de Re, we were there two years ago so this is our main target on the trip but we thought we shoud see something else too. Have a great summer. Lottaxx

As you already know l'île de Ré, perhapps you could spend some time in "Le Marais Poitevin" before going to the seaside. It's a real nice area, also called "Green Venice" :

My personal top five for Bordeaux & the coast southwards:
> Antique flea market in Bordeaux (Les Chartrons, get there with tram B or walk northwards on the Quais along Garonne)
> If you like oysters go to Cap Ferret, stop at a little fisher cabin and get them fresh out of the water
> Drive around Bassin d'Arcachon (or cross by boat), take a walk in the city of Arcachon or drive through the neighborhoods - you can see stunning houses
> Hike up Dune du Pyla, a massive sand dune just south of Arcachon (don't forget a bottle of wine, baguette and cheese for sunset)
> Walk through the city of Biarritz and/or Bayonne and then drive down the coast to San Sebastian

Bon voyage!
